Green 1

Green 4

I love green. In all its forms: pure, fresh lime-green and dark, lush leaf-green, like the grapevines spreading across our back wall. I've made some green things for my shop update this week: a sashiko-quilted purse made from a very old piece of Japanese kimono fabric: light green with black running stitches and a wool layer inside. And a green satchel made entirely from recycled textiles: wool, cotton and a leather strap. The bag is quite simple, forest-inspired, and can be closed with brown cotton tape.

– I agreed to show what I carry around each day at the design blog post grad haircut today.

– I was sent this link by a reader- it's a beautiful stop-motion music video called the Fish and the Doll, by Orla Wren. I think you'll like it.

Loving your recycled textiles bag. We’re using lots of belts at school too instead of buying strapping. It’s great to be able to show my classes recycling in the ‘real world’!

I love your work – it is so thoughtful, like someone said above. And of course it is beautiful as well… And I love your photos. The video was transporting – I felt I was in a faraway land – and yet it felt somewhat familiar… Thank you for sharing it.

Such beautiful posts lately…! Ha we share some of the same fabrics – the colorful karen walker horses and the vines… I admire the home made sashiko-purse, such delicate fabric, very skilfully made into a purse.

I just watched the stop motion film you linked. So quiet, beautiful. I have posted two stop motion shorts on my blog this week, and have become quite interested in the art form. Thank you for introducing this one to me!

I went to the link about what’s in your day to day bag – I love having a wee notebook in my handbag too, I never know when I get an idea about something that needs to be jotted down.
