Mushroom 2

Mushroom 4

Mushroom 1

Mushroom 3

A few months ago I bought this beautiful linen mushroom from this shop, made by the talented Maribeth of Lovely World. Her blog really is a lovely world to visit, and she has been making some beautiful textile creatures lately. I love this fabric mushroom very much. It has a nice weight to it, and is made from smooth and cool linen.

It's mushroom season here at the moment, but I've not seen many around- probably due to the drought we had over summer and early autumn. Inspired by Maribeth's sculpture I made this mushroom skirt for Keira to wear with her favourite stripy red t-shirt. I used a kind of lightweight denim and hand-appliqued the mushrooms.

Maribeth is as lovely as her blog and creations. I am not surprised that you have a similar feeling. I spotted the first mushrooms in our forest about one week ago but soon the forest floors will explode with these marvels of nature.
I can’t wait to see a picture of Keira wearing her shroom skirt.

There are tons of mushrooms and other fungi popping up all over the place up here, the weather seems to have been perfect. It’s quite magical seeing them pop up overnight. Love the skirt and that mushroom is so darling. Off to check out that blog.

Your mushroom is really cute. I like that you made it after the mushroom atlas.

Down the road, the couple who lives there set out a tree stump by their roadside mailbox and there are a beautiful bunch of mushrooms/fungi growing from it; I slow down just to look; I think it was their intention, to get folks to slow down along our busy road (in more ways than one). Yours is a very pretty specimen! Are you familiar with Willywaw on Etsy? She makes a tote bag onto which she has printed mushroom spores; very nice.
Lucky Keira, that is a darling skirt!

Melissa, Very sweet to see my mushroom here! I also want to tell you that I enjoyed your short video of the seashore. I get to the shore so infrequently, as it is quite a drive from our home. But, I got to pretend I was standing on the shore as I watched your video. Thank you!
