Calendar 1

Calendar 3

Calendar 2

A couple of nights ago I made a new cover for our coffee plunger, (as well as one for a friend and one for the shop). The beloved coffee press is something I use every day- I made my first cover for it a few years ago now, and elastic was starting to get a bit tired. This time I used mismatched buttons and a couple of extra layers of wool fabric, and it's doing the job nicely on these cold mornings we've been having.

In a strange coincidence, the very next morning I received an interesting-looking box from a US publisher on the doorstep. Inside was this 2011 'Sewing Calendar', compiled by Megan Smith and published by Accord Publishing. My little tutorial for this coffee cosy, and one other pattern was published in the calendar but I'd forgotten all about it.

It's a boxed set featuring lots of different craft projects from around the internet- enough to last you an entire year.

They kindly sent me two copies, so I have one Sewing Calendar to give away here. I'm happy to send it anywhere in the world. If you'd like it, just leave a comment telling me something special you'd like to do next year. 2011 seems kind of far away, doesn't it? But I'm sure it will come around soon enough.

Love the idea of a sewing calendar! And your press cosy, it’s lovely.

I like the cozy, particularly the fact that you went for mismatched buttons this time.
I am without my stuff at the moment as our house is having renovations done and I’m crashing at my friends with kids and hubby. So to compensate for not having my crafty stuff available I’m looking at crafty blogs everyday. It’s all so inspirational.

I just discovered your lovely blog and will be following along. I recently spent a lovely holiday with my daughters in the US – we re-decorated my younger daughters living room in reds, oranges and yellows – morrocan inspired! and the kitchen in hot pink, black and white! Now I am inspired and next year I want to re-do our office/spare room.

My special treat for next year would be to have our grand daughter, who will be 13 in 2011, come to visit us for most of the summer. She lives in Germany and we don’t get to have enough time with her. She wants to learn to sew, so we could have many quiet days to see if she likes sewing.

I love the coffee cosy, and think we need one of those in our house. A must for cold mornings and tired parents of a toddler!
We are expecting our second child at the end of this year, so I know that 2011 will be a busy one. Hopefully I can continue some of the projects I have on my to-do-list which I have written during my ‘nesting’ stage!
Thank you for your inspirational blog 🙂

I love the cozy 🙂 Next year will be a hectic year..baby due in November so I will have a little one crawling around while my older two are in school. I’ve only just started sewing (inspired by blogs such as yours) and I would really love to continue that despite having a more hectic schedule.

i would like to make a quilt next year. the original plan was to make it this year, but in the event that that does not happen, next year will do. i don’t know how there are all these people in the world with babies who find the time to make quilts – but i wish i was one of them.

Hello, I’ve followed your blog for a while but never been bold enough to leave a message. I think the calendar is a lovely idea – a great way to be inspired every day! I am in a sewing/craft group in Sydney with some lovely parents from my children’s primary school – including some parents whose children have since flown away to high school – we meet at each other’s houses once a fortnight and sew quilts, bags etc to raise money for the school at their fetes and concerts etc It’s a lovely way for us to keep in touch and learn from each other. Anyway, we are planning to go on a trip together to Japan next year to ‘look’ at fabric (ie shop) and also be inspired by their beautiful art and craft.

Well, I could even be wishful and dream about a long travel to my home country in the other side of the world…Snif! In 2011, I’d like to create a more peaceful home for my family. We’re currently living in limbo for the forseeable future… so being able to finally settle, create a routine and simplify life sounds really good about now. (Along with making some new friends now that we’ve moved 3,000 miles away from everyone we know!)
