Fair 3

Fair 2

Fair 6

Fair 1

Fair 7
Fair 5

Here are some photos from a great little country fair I visited this weekend in a rural valley near our town. I do love the old-school NZ-style fairs with their abundance of ice-cream, crafts, strange games and bbqs. Not to mention searing sunshine and bare feet, folk music and all my nieces and nephews in one place.

I hope you had a good weekend too, and happy Labour Day if you live here… I just heard a really good radio documentary about the working class hero Joe Hill. (You can probably hear it via podcast here by tomorrow.)

glad to see whack-a-rat also exists at the other end of the world! we go to a similar rural fair each summer, complete with sheep racing. love that old-style fun. your setting and weather are infinitely superior though 🙂

Don’t you just love rural A&P shows and fairs? We’ve just had ours recently (Ellesmere A&P Show) and it was the coolest. The homebrew and poultry competitions were really neat.
