I am really happy it's September. I challenged myself to a sugar-free August (I picked something I knew would be hard to relinquish as I am a lifelong chocolate devotee and wanted to see if I was tough enough to go without something I loved. And surprisingly I was- hooray!) So while that was all good, I must admit I was happy when September rolled around. I had some chocolate gelato to celebrate.

Also, because it's early spring, I'm obsessing over forget-me-nots again. Just like I did last year twice and two years before that, it would seem (it's handy to have this blog as a reference to past obsessions.)

Anyway, the other day I completed my paper-cutting work by making a collaged forget-me-not. Then I got some sets of postcards printed up in town, so that each set comes with a print of each botanical collage and matching envelopes.

I popped some in my etsy shop, but thought that in order to celebrate spring arriving here, it would be nice to give a couple of sets away too.

So if you would like to be in the draw for a card set, just leave a comment below and tell me why you love September where you live.

See you in a few days.

I love your floral paper creations! They are so very pretty! I would love to win some.
September in Wellington is full of surprises – sporadic weather, flowers popping up where you don’t expect them to. Its almost four seasons in one!

How beautiful! I love September here in England. The sun hangs lower and more golden in the sky heralding the glorious colours of Autumn. The air smells crisper and more cool whispering the promise of dark nights, twinkling lights and glowing fires. The magical aura of Christmas is within touching distance…

    Hi Melissa
Hard to resist the blue of those forget me nots.
On the sugar issue have you read David Gillespie’s “Big Fat Lie”? Fascinating info about the food industry and surprisingly readable – love Emma

I love September in Brussels! I’m living on the 15th floor and enjoy the beautiful skies and the golden light that falls over the park nearby. The warm colours during the last summer days bring me in a little melancholic, poetic mood…

I’ve been looking forward to being able to walk around the back yard without being up to my ankles in water, the winter has made it such a bog. Now I can head down to the creek to admire my incredible magnolia with blooms bigger than my spread out hand, followed everywhere by my chickens (who I credit the supersize magnolia blossoms to). Time to put new plants in the vege garden and soak up some vitamin D.
I too have lots of forget-me-nots springing forth, including some beautiful white ones that my neighbour gave me last year.

Wow – good on you for going sugar free…especially in a bit of a gloomy month in wellington when I find it’s comforting to eat lots of puddings and cakes. you’ve inspired me to try it now that it’s spring.
I’m enjoying the feeling of things drying out finally, spring flowers popping up and blossoming trees – magnolias, fruit trees, daphne.
Great to see you are still being productive creatively, even though you are studying. Hope that’s all going well too!

I love September here in southern Finland because our apple trees are always full of fruit this time of year. I have made oodles of applesauce already, and we will also have apple juice pressed and frozen to enjoy over the winter.

Thank you for the giveaway too, you’re always so generous. The reasons why I love September. Well, where I live, summer lingers till the very end of the official season. It’s also my mom’s birthday month, and it also means that autumn is around the corner, which makes me happy too !! xoxox

september in germany is the beginning of autumn too, with dusk in the morning and lots of sparkeling spider webs in the meadow, its called “altweibersommer” (maybe summer of old woman), the air smelles fresh and aromatic and its a little colder each morning, but then turnes into a warm sunny day and the leaves are starting to get colour.

September in Victoria, Australia means wattle everywhere. My city is surrounded by forest and many different varieties of wattle, every week there’s a different one coming into blossom so we have a constant sea of gold. That combined with the extra sunshine and warmth make September a pretty special month.

September in Ohio is almst my favorite month. As we go into fall, the days are still warm and (usually) sunny, the evenings are cool with a bit of a bite, the leaves are turning but my flowers seem to put on a final burst of color. Enjoy your spring!

Lovely work! It’s hard for me to find reasons to love September, because here the days are getting shorter, and work resumes at full speed after a sleepy August; I guess I really appreciate still being able to spend a few afternoons on the beach, and the Summer fruits which are still abundant, as well as plums and figs which are starting to show up.

It’s the start of fall here outside of San Francisco. We’re in the middle if (hopefully) our last really hot spell before things get, well, not so hot. I love September because it means that we can leave the windows open instead of relying on the dreaded a/c. Fresh air and hearing the birds is so much nicer!

Love the cards! It’s fall here in Oregon USA, almost time to harvest all those things I’ve been growing all summer in the garden. Fall is my favorite season…changing leaves, smell of wood smoke, and in about a month, the rain will begin, which I lovingly call “soup weather”.

I’m with Samantha, September is indeed like a big exhale after the fullness of summer. Where I live this is the time of perfect blackberries, fresh figs, green beans and grilled corn on the cob. I love the transition to autumn, the first fires in the wood stove, making jam to preserve the sweetness of summer…. aah.

I’m living in Korea this year, and I LOVE (love, love…words cannot express) September because it’s no longer 40C and 98% humidity. As a Canadian, I long for cooler days. Soon I’ll be able to wear my leather boots again and feel like a superhero striding to work. It’s so difficult to stride heroically in sandals.
    Thanks for the generous giveaway!

September in England often brings an indian summer. We are finally enjoying some wrm days after oneof the wettest summer on record. This september my youngest child starts school. I will miss him so much! But September has also brought an epidemic of chicken pox so I have a bonus week with him playing in the garden- hooray!

I love September in Kansas because the weather FINALLY gets cooler. We have had an incredibly hot and dry summer, it will be so nice to get a bit more rain and cool nights. All the plants here are a couple weeks ahead of their usual schedule too, so we’ll probably see some colorful trees before October hits.

This is my first September in Finland – after living in England for many years – and I’m enjoying a proper continental start to the autumn, with lovely colours, a bit of a chill in the morning and late afternoon air, forest mushroom foraging and that long forgotten back to school feeling (now, to learn Finnish).
A friend of ours just moved to New Zealand – when we skype, we laugh at the strange fact that we are talking to each other from opposite seasons, we in the past, them in the future, while a few months ago we all were perfectly aligned in the present in London… 🙂
Loving the collaged flowers and your sweet blog.
