Yellow wildflowers- med

Some more brooches were made- this time from pieces of hand-embroidered linen that were left over after cutting out baby slippers- and I didn't want to throw these remnants away. Some of the handwork is very old, and starting to come away from the linen a bit, which is quite characterful I think.

Yellow is all around these days- the lawn is covered in daisies and we went for a coastal walk last week and there were huge bushes of glossy bright wildflowers like the ones in the top photo. And spreading gorse, of course.

Have you heard the new Bob Dylan album? I'm into it, especially the song Long and Wasted Years (can't find it online anywhere except spotify) and I think it will be playing on our stereo all summer. He seems to be getting even better with age.

I’ve been meaning to leave a comment for ages. It seems that I’m always stopping by your blog in the mornings when I’m using my Nook and unable to leave a comment.
These are beautiful! The colors capture summer so nicely. I have been cutting up my daughters wee dresses (4 years worth!) so that I can make a quilt for her, a bit heartbreaking each time I make a cut, but it will be worth it in the end.
I meant to tell you how much I liked your cards in the last post. What lucky winners those ladies are! xo

Beautiful Melissa – the colours are so brightening, and those brooches are such a lovely way to save someone’s gorgeous work. I was thinking about the new Bob Dylan album yesterday too – and thinking, isn’t it a wonderful thing to love an artist that continues to create throughout my life, such a rare thing, and something that makes me feel so lucky. I agree, he only gets better and better x

oh the blooms and those brooches! I recently found some old hankies with embroidery….if I can bring myself to cut them for a sewing project (I am dreaming of making part of them into pockets on a bag or apron)I just know the girls and I could have fun trying to make some of these with the leftovers!!!
i do so enjoy your beautiful blog, you have an exquisite eye and such a talented hand!
