These handmade buttons by Sarah of Fulton and Co arrived in the letterbox over the weekend. They are made from pearly smooth ceramic, slightly earthy and delicate at the same time. I think they look beautiful on handmade garments- if I was more of a knitter, I would knit a stack of winter cardigans and adorn them with these buttons.

But being a very slow knitter, I sewed some buttons onto a cardigan for Keira. This is a pale blue cashmere garment that I sewed as a project for 'the book'. The project is for a recycled knit and uses fine cotton to make bias binding for the edges. It was a tad big last year, but should fit this coming winter.

o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o…o

Sarah also sent some of these beautiful little pearls for you, dear readers. A set of small, creamy grey buttons and a bigger set too.

Would you like to win them? (I'll post them anywhere in the world.) Just leave a comment below and tell me what you'd do with them, and I'll draw a winner in a couple of days.

I am an avid knitter, but I rarely find buttons I like. I LOVE these!!! They are beautiful, and would look lovely on cardis for my daughter or myself.

These buttons are so pretty. I would probably use them to button up a handknit cardigan, just as you suggested.

I have a plan to design a girl’s cardigan. Fairly classic, but with a bit of a twist. It is only an idea in my head at the moment, but some gorgeous buttons might just give me the kick I need to get going.

These are gorgeous buttons! I recently tried my hand at making ceramic buttons, and they’re much trickier than I imagined. Sarah has lots of talent!
I’m expecting my first baby any day now (I hope he comes soon!), so I’d like to use these buttons for some mama and baby cardigans. Maybe the Antler cardigan?

Oh yes please!!!! I’d use some on the knitted vest I’m creating for my teeny granddaughter and the others I’d save for either another knitting project or perhaps on a new dress my mum is sewing for me. Love them!!

They are so beautiful, I am off to buy myself some, and some wool to go with them. You have inspired me to knit a cardigan for myself for the first time, thank you Melissa!
(PS – I cannot believe all you have accomplished this last year. You have worked so hard and I am so thrilled for you.)

Beautiful buttons! I’d probably use buttons like these on bags/pouches and knitwear. Perhaps for jewellery too.

I’m not a knitter either although I have tried and tried to knit. I would rather embroider or sew, but I think that if I won those beautiful buttons I would have to get my grandmother to knit a winter cardi for my gorgeous new baby girl, and one for her big sister too. Big sister loves to match her new baby sister.

These are really lovely. I can see them on a winter knit for one of the girls. Perhaps a neutral coloured cardigan. Thanks Melissa 🙂

To adorn homemade cushions or button jewellery – can only be decided once touched and seen. Hope all is well. Looking forward to your book & finally got to Stitchbird shop in Kilbirnie – took my niece who lives in Mt Vic and NEVER knew about it – she has started “textiles” this year, and was SO happy. 🙂

As I am not a knitter, I think it would be lovely to replace some not so beautiful buttons on a cardigan with these ones, so fun!

Amazing buttons, I can’t believe they are hand made!
I would use them down the front of a handmade top or dress, like maybe the banksia or darling ranges.

I love homemade buttons. My friend Amy (of Red Raven) used to make them, but she doesn’t anymore. Sad face.

Sturdy and nice leather bag, was bigger than expected, and also the exterior leather is also very soft and comfortable feels. It is very functional as I have been using this leather hobo bags for a week, works very great so I’d like to advise http://leatherhobobag.webs.com/apps/webstore here.
