My friend Nicola is a clever woman: she makes beautiful food and writes about it over on her blog Homegrown Kitchen.

Her latest project is the 2015 food calendar. Printed on lovely thick paper, every month features a seasonal recipe, as well space for kitchen and garden notes (I love this feature.) Recipes I'll try immediately include the sourdough thin-crust pizza, plum and hazelnut cake and three-cheese quiche. Oh okay, I'll have to make all of the recipes.

The calendar even has an extra month (Dec 2014) with a recipe that is perfect for Christmas gifts: handmade salted caramels. Yes. I will be making and eating these. (You can also watch a sweet video about them.)

I reckon this calendar would make a perfect Christmas/end of year gift and it's only $20- you can order your own copy here

Nicola kindly offers one to give away to you. To enter, just leave a comment on this post, telling us what you're cooking for dinner these days. International entries welcome.

Nicola is amazing. I was given her children’s cook book when my daughter was a baby, she is now 7 and I still use it. I recently purchased one for my sister and she just said yesterday how much she loves it and uses it most days of the week. . . It really is needed in every household… At the moment I like to make me and my daughter: roast vegetables on brown spiced rice, with various veges from the garden…also protein patties (lots of nuts grinded up and made into patties with tahini… them with a saldd are delicous! pretty simple really 🙂 x

With the days getting colder, soups are on the stove more often and some oven cooking too. Apple crisp, apple tart, bread… yes homemade bread…welcome back!
Looks like a beautiful calendar. Thanks for the chance.

    The calendar looks beautiful 🙂
Tonight we’re having veg soup, as the weather is rainy and gray here. But it’ll be followed by delicious Maltesers cupcakes.

That calendar looks lovely. I am cooking mostly soups and stews these days. The cold weather is great for it. 🙂

We have been eating a lot of pasta lately. It is technically fall here, but still hovering around 100 degrees, so we are craving cooked foods, but can’t quite handle turning on the oven yet!

Love the look of the chic chip cookies made with chickpeas over on Nicole’s blog – those are next on my list to try!

We live on the West Coast of Portugal and my husband goes fishing from the high cliffs. A good dinner would be grilled seabream, mushroom rice, our own homemade pickles, a nice miso soup and my own chocolate cake for dessert with a cup of green tea afterwards.
