Watercoloured

Melser 2

+ + Last weekend my friend Nicola came to stay, while she was in the city to run some workshops. She introduced me to the work of potter Paul Melser. His very beautiful dishes are used in a local cafe here, Loretta, so I'd eaten from them before. I couldn't resist buying a piece for our kitchen. I chose this earthy bowl, because it made me think of smooth pebbles and porridge.

+ + Watercoloured is a small journal produced by my brother-in-law who is an artist and writer. I was pleased to contribute to the latest edition, with an essay about Shaker 'gift drawings' (you can see some of the artworks I wrote about here.)

I have an extra copy of the journal – would you like it? I'll package it up with some extra bits and bobs of the paper variety, and send it anywhere in the world. Just leave a comment below and I'll draw a name on Monday.

Oh my goodness I have been following your blog for 2+ years now. Bought your book and have made many items for my 10 grandchildren. Have been following your example and have made many project bags for friends embroidered them with native Wisconsin plants (I live in Elkhorn, Wisconsin Midwest USA). Also made up many of your project bags for the grandchildren to use for carrying their library books embroidering characters on the fronts from their favorite books. 2 weeks ago I finished the Scout Tee after ordering the pattern from Grainline Studio (learning about it from your blog). I am 64 years young and still work full time as a Registered Nurse and reading about New Zealand and all of your “makings” out their has blessed my heart beyond measure! I look forward to every one of your posts checking your site daily. I would surely love to be the recipient of a copy of the journal Watercoulored. In any case I would just like to thank you so very much for all of the information I have gleaned from your site. And I love seeing pics of your son and daughter modeling your projects! Sincerely, Jan Cox

Hi, I just found you on Instagram…. Your photo popped in the photos I might like based on the folk I follow, and I did like! Then I came here to find your rather beautiful blog… So I thought I was meant to leave a comment… So I have! 😀
Love the bowl. I love using handmade things, they carry a bit of the person that made them don’t they.
I’ve started stitching recently…. on card, not fabric. I shall have to attempt fabric soon. I find it me dative. X
