Spanish costume

Spanish 1

Spanish 2

Tom went to London recently for a weekend, and brought back a Charlie and Lola story book for Keira. She loves them. Especially Lola, who I think she fancies is rather like herself. In one of the stories, Lola is dressing up in many different costumes- in an alligator costume, a doctor's coat, a circus performer's dress- but then, and this is where little K always stops and gasps- as a Spanish dancing lady. I used some old black clothes of my own for this outfit- cut down of course. A long black skirt with a ruffled red ribbon. Two red rose hair pins. And a vintage crocheted doiley in red for the off-the-shoulder top. Olé!

My daughters are into “Pinkalicious” by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann; Keira might enjoy that one, too!

Three cheers for Charlie and Lola! My daughter also loves Lola and her crazy adventures. She also likes to pretend that she is Charlie and her little brother is Lola … too much fun. We’re really enjoying Lauren Child’s illustrated version of Pippi Longstocking. It’s really, really lovely and fun. One more book Kiera might like – Lauren Child and Polly Borland’s version of The Princess and the Pea … it’s so much fun to pick out all the tiny details with Esme.

Super cute! My kids love Charlie and Lola, too, and it’s also because they identify with them completely. She’s written many other great books as well. There’s also a Charlie and Lola TV show, but you probably know that.

They are great aren’t they! I occasionally watch the tv show (not big telly watchers here) and really enjoy it – I think it represents children pretty well – and yes, we have pink milk too (thanks to Lola).

She does look superb and is clearly having fun posing as a Spanish lady’! Lieveke is besotted with Charlie and Lola too – see if you can find any of their DVD’s (I could send one!) they are great entertainment (even for the ‘bigger’ kids) and excellent ‘chill-out’ time!
I really like the ‘new colors’ spool-collection too, lots of my faverotites there.

We love Charlie and Lola too, I always try to read him the books with the accent from the TV show and usually earn myself an eye roll for my efforts. I love the outfit – she looks great!

Keira you are a beautiful Spanish dancing Lady!!
We love Charlie and Lola, I think my kiddos pretend to be them, accents and all (Jersey kids pretending to be cute cartoony English kids…it rocks!) The ‘patchwork/collage’ TV show is so cute, they are watching now while I type this!
Sorry for the snow…hopefully it’s the last. I am gearing up to make it right to the end of April with NO more! I love it but it’s time to move on to another season 🙂
