Cups 2

I finished sewing up a summer top for K using the 'queen' embroidery from the other day. I used a drapey kind of light weight cotton, good for wearing over other things, I hope. And she seems proud to have her artwork displayed like that.

And I'm rather proud of the new additions to my second-hand ceramic collection- all of these came from our local Recycling Centre (kind of like a rubbish tip with a shop for reusable things- do you have these where you live, too?) Although the wildflowers cups (top right) came from my dear friend Helen in the North Island. I like how similar they are to the ones I found here. Vintage Crown Lynn, I think.

Reading your blog has inspired me to find our local recycling center…I visited there today and found a great suitcase for our move from Northern California to Nelson in the near future. No fabric, which was a let down, but a great place for a treasure hunt! Thanks for the inspiration! Smiles

I’m quite sure I haven’t been reading your blog for that long – but K looks so much more grown up already than when i started! That top suits her down to the ground, too :^)

oh your little model is growing up fast, she looks great in her little top, it’s so nice to see it finished. No recycling centre near me, probably a good thing! I’m not sure I need more outlets to spend money. I love your finds though, the little pretty jug bottom left especially.

Are you considering selling this design in adult sizes? I think anyone would be proud to wear such a lovely, original piece of clothing, especially in such a soothing shade of blue. : ) Your ceramic collection is looking similarly charming. Hooray for Recycling centres and their hidden treasures!

We have a recycling center at our town dump. I just call it the “thrift store” on my blog, only because people don’t really understand the whole thing and I have to explain it each time I mention it. Anyway, we have a shed that someone threw away. It was mended by some of the town locals and turned into a place that people can donate things that they don’t need but can be used by someone else. Lots of plates, books, toys, clothes, shoes, jackets, blankets and all free. Its a spiritual experience to be provided for in this manner, I love it.

adorable! both K and her now top. We don’t have one of these recycling center shops here, but I keep hearing of others who do and the treasures they find. Your new mugs look so similar to the wildflowers ones, I did not notice the difference at first.
I love the little built in shelf you have.
