A confession: I much prefer second-hand bedding to new.

I like 2nd hand because you can still find the old fashioned heavy cottons which you can wash on real hot. But I prefer it still bright and crisp. I like the older patterns though. I just changed my sheets this afternoon and put on very old linen ones , with someones name written in fountain pen ink in one of the corners. That’s how they went to the washer woman I guess.

i love very old soft and worn linens
i use them until they are thread bare and then I rib them into strips to make rag balls for knitting

Oh, ditto, ditto. Our pillowcases clash terribly, if you look closely, but OH, how soft is that 1930’s linen? Not bad at $4/pair, either. Win, win, and sweet dreams.

ME TOO!! Its soft and pre-loved and yummy! In fact, apart from some obvious exceptions, I prefer many things second hand. I get real satisfaction from recycling, and from getting an awesome bargain :-).*

Oh I can imagine how soft they must be..
Last summer in Finland I rummaged at flea markets and found some deliciously soft second hand pillow covers. We will use them at our summer cottage in Finland.

    lovely lived in look.
I have been collecting linen lately with a passion, some great floral sheets from the 70’s, and plan to make bunting with them, but honestly, they look so great once they are washed and folded, and all their colours sing – I think I may just have trouble cutting them up!

Agreed!! It’s always so soft & cozy. I like to pilfer sheets from my mother’s closet when I visit — she mostly doesn’t mind, heh.

Me too, me too! I also like the 2nd day after changing the sheets much better than the first: still crisp and fresh, but in addition to this also comfy and cozy. Oh I wish it’d be time to go to bed already!

oh yes, so do I. I have far too many old pillowcases that I have collected over the year, I can barely close the door on my linen cupboard. I have been telling myself of late that I’m going to have to return some of them to the opp shop.

We have sheets from my mother-in-law in our airing cupboard now, the flannelette ones are lovely n soft from years of use. Ah, nothing like the feel of getting into a bed with freshly washed sheets!

Oh, I tried to write a post about the wonders of linen just the other week. I totally agree about the inviting comfort of worn nap. I guess nap has a double meaning there 🙂
