Well here we are in our new house. We're mostly all settled in now, but still getting used to small things like, where the light switches are, and the different sounds we can hear at night. Our house is a wooden one- a classic 1940's NZ style with lots of big windows. The children have been drawing pictures in the condensation on them each morning and then later during the day I find faint outlines of faces and names.

While unpacking boxes and cleaning, I discovered the Baltimore, Maryland band Beach House and have been playing their songs on repeat- especially this one. So good. 

It's (mostly) lovely and peaceful up here on the hill, and we have big tree-ferns growing against our bedroom windows. I'm pretty happy about that.

    gosh, how weird, Paul has been banging on about Beach House for a few weeks, and just today, right now in fact, i am listening to them myself and google imaging them so i can see what victoria legrand looks like. funny, no? anyway your new house looks really lovely. i’d love to live in a wooden house!

    How very exciting to have purchased your first home. I am also in the midst of purchasing my first home, this time as a single woman. I recently owned a home while married for 15 years. This time it feels so much differently in so many levels.
    The shrubbery outside your window is amazing. I think the only time I seen a fern that big was in the rainforests around here, certainly not beside a house. What a treasure.
    I am going to try to put more posts on my Melbourne Road blog about my new home. I miss my old blog though, but time as walked on.
