Yoyo 1

Yoyo 2

Yoyo 4

I was sent a copy of this new publication to review- Cloth magazine, which is published in London four times each year. It's fun to read- with colourful and bright layout and lots of projects to make yourself- from shoulder bags to needlebooks… even a floral-printed bikini which is something I've never thought of sewing before, but might now.

Cloth has quite a few pages of upcoming events, classes, shops, etc that are in the UK, so it's quite localised in that way. But there are also sewing tips and techniques, articles about designers and artists (including Ginny -hi!), and a pattern for a yo-yo necklace (designed by Saints and Pinners) that I've started making. I found some scraps of Liberty lawn and have been obsessively hand-sewing yo-yos in my spare moments. I love the stripy pink and grey version in the magazine.

I too have been fantasizing about togs here in the dead of winter! they are apparently quite easy to sew with the right fabric… ditto for undies.
I can see those yo yo’s on a headband for sure

Hi Melissa, my sister lives in London and bought me a subscription to Cloth after she saw the 1st issue. It’s a great little mag and my 17yr old daughter just loves it for the fresh ideas and the helpful sewing tips.

You have inspired me to get out my stash of yoyos that I stitched up like crazy and then lost interest in, the might be perfect to sew into a necklace like that. Do you know if that magazine is available in NZ?

Ooo I’m always hoping to find new magazines and this one is even from the UK like me! Looks amazing.
Those yo-yos remind me of my crazy stressful final year textiles project!

Yo yo’s are so fun. I covered a pillow last year and it was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever done.
I made a necklace too awhile back. Here is the link if you want to peek

o yes i have seen those too melissa, but definitely would not be my size! teeny tiny little frames women & men had back then(only 2-3 generations ago amazingly) how we have ‘evolved’ already!

I was just catching up on your Blog and Was shocked to see my sister in law!! The cover model is actually my sister in law Angela. She just recently won Bristol’s next top Model here in the UK. She’ll be shocked and happy to hear that she was on a magazine that made it’s way to New Zealand. So cool! I will Defiantly have to make some yo-yo’s now. I’ve only ever made on and it was an utter failure. LOL. Anyway, I love you Blog. And read it almost Daily. 🙂 Sarah Couling from Chew Valley Bristol.
