Pockets 1

Thank you for the well-wishes re. the chicken pox! K is feeling much better now, after a quiet weekend. She'll have a few more days home from school yet, though. I've been trying to think of ways to entertain her- so far we've been painting, drawing, watching films and making bead necklaces. I also made these 'big pocket skirts' for her to wear this spring. I used vintage fabric for both: black with little white dots and a grey and pink flowery cotton. They seem to be cheering.

According to her, the best things to keep in one's pockets include, in no particular order: buttons, necklaces, sticks, mandarins, pens and sweets. Sounds good to me.

I love the big pockets! Very handy for important things. Glad K has got the chicken pox over and done with. Its good to get it out of the way!
Ours didn’t get it till they were 8 and 3. (within the same week, which was good!)

Pockets seem to be a very essential part of any clothing according to Liisu (4years). Her pocket favorites: rocks, bottlecaps, balloons, toycars and cats (imaginary ones).
The skirts look so cosy and nice. Oh, chikcenpox. Oh. I´m glad we have had it allready, every six of them. Speedy recovery!

What nice things to have in pockets. My five year old, on the other hand, has more unsavoury things, like squashed raisins, crumbs, bits of Lego, and mud. I love your blog, you make everything look so pretty! And hello from Auckland (I’m originally from Wellington but haven’t lived there for centuries) Carla

Everything my little girl wears at the moment has to have pockets. For keeping coins in – she’s a future miser!

Reminds me of the movie Amélie… she popped little pebbles into her pockets as she went. Lovely. K

I’m glad K is feeling better. I should make some pants with big pockets for Noah – he definitely likes to pick up rocks and leaves and sticks and bits of nature during his forays outdoors…
The skirts are lovely, Melissa. And I agree with Rachelle – I feel uplifted and completely inspired whenever i visit your space. Thank you.
    warmly,
