Forget 3

Forget 1

Forget 2

I love forget-me-nots. I saw a big patch of them in my mother's garden the other day, but here in my garden, I've got veronica flowers, which look a little like them, but are more of a weed. I think they also have the name Grey Field Speedwell, which sounds very grand.

It's the first official day of spring here at the bottom of the world. I did a watercolour painting of forget-me-nots to celebrate. And added a pair of forget-me-not embroidered baby shoes to today's shop update, too. Happy spring, or autumn.

Argh! The shoes are sold already. They would have been gracing our soon to be baby girl’s feet otherwise.
Our forget me nots died in the major heat we had this summer. Sad.

Yay, spring has finally arrived! Looking forward to Daylight Saving starting at month’s end too. That name Speedwell reminded me that it’s the name of one of the rabbits in Watership Down – it grows in my herb garden but its pretty so I dont weed it out.

Happy Spring! Isnt it wonderful. Ive just been looking at a painting of Veronica/Speedwell flowers in The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I think your blog is a mondern day version of her nature notes. 🙂

They are beautiful. Here at the “top of the world” the forget-me-not is our state flower. They are one of the only wildflowers I’m still seeing as we make our abrupt transition from summer to autumn. I hope they stick around a bit longer.

I love forget-me-nots too. I have some growing and think your design captures them well. I bought a veronica plant, but it hasn’t bloomed yet. Maybe next year. We are heading into fall.
    Glad you are getting spring.
    The shoes are so sweet.

Hi! I follow your blog from Italy, (I’m an italian girl); where I live we call those flowers in the right same way, litterally with the same words and meaning: non ti scordar di me = forget-me-not
I love those flowers since when I was a child, they means spring also for me, so it just surprised me that in a place so far, as N.Z. , they’re called the same way…what a little beatiful world!
    ciao! 🙂

melissa! don’t tempt me into having another baby just so she can wear your baby things ( as happened with celeste & the irresistable little woolen hat you made, it still tempts me!) i love those forget me not slippers, love them.
