I'd been eyeing up this blue fabric for a while in the craft shop and finally went and bought it: it's denim-blue with a very fine little herringbone pattern on it. Almost business-suit-like, but not quite. I made a dress for spring, using this pattern- New Look 6774. It's quite a good buy actually because there are lots of different pattern parts and you can put them together to make a custom-design dress. To make this dress, I used pattern pieces I+J+L, I believe. I lined the dress in a vintage polka-dot cotton. I love this dress- it fits just perfectly and seems to go with lots of other things I like to wear.

And, can you believe these freesias I stole from the side of the road? (shh)… ahh, spring.

    Thanks for your answers on Dana’s blog (isn’t her art awesome?!). As a new-ish mum trying to combine motherhood and crafting that I’m hoping will one day soon generate some type of income, it really helps to hear how other crafting mums balance their time and various commitments.
    I also love this dress – the style and fabric is spot on. (Eek, unintentional pun, sorry!) :o)

    your blog still blows me away. it’s such a beautiful spot to stop in and visit for a few moments. it has replaced a few of my other go to blogs in the morning. please keep the inspiration coming.
    on another note, although we reside in the U.S. my husband is from Perth. it’s nice to hear and see a bit of what life is like on your side of the world as the seasons change. thank you for that.

I then got hooked and read all the other answers and it is so encouraging to read about all the ideas for squeezing work in while still prioritising little people, family and creating a life. Since your fabulous email to me I have buckled down and started getting on with things and it’s amazing the projects that blossom when you give them time.

    Love that dress! I’m such a denim lover that I wouldn’t be able to resist such cool fabric, it makes a beautiful dress. Eloise has been picking me some freesias from the side of the road too, don’t they smell devine! ahhh Spring. xx happy weekend

    I took look at the pattern link and you’re right it does look like a good buy – with all the different pieces. It looks like you’ve made a very pretty dress and I love the dotty lining.
