Poppies 1

Poppies 2

Poppies 3

I found a forgotten box filled with wool felt scraps in my workroom, and decided to construct them into flowers, modelled on some picked from the garden this morning. They were also inspired by a recent trip to an antique store where I saw lots of amazing old felt handbags adorned with tiny gardens of hand-sewn felt flowers.

I made some of my felt poppies into pins by adding brooch findings to the back- but i thought i could use the others to tie on to packages, birthday presents, hair-ties for my nieces, etc. And they were very therapeutic to sit down and make, of course.

You’re so creative Melissa, always thinking of a quick and fun activity to do. These would also make nice little Christmas presents (or is it to early to talk about those yet!). Enjoy the start of your week. x

I was so excited when the mailman came to my door today carrying a box from New Zealand! The coffee mugs are so lovely and will bring many dreams of feijoas and fjords, for sure! And to be a lucky recipient of one of these sweet felt flowers absolutely made my day! Thank you so much! I’m glad you had fun making it, as I will certainly enjoy rocking it on my lapel!
