Sage 1

Sage 2

Sage 3

We have a giant sage plant in our vegetable patch, which has just this week burst into flower. I picked a jarful of sage stems for the mantlepiece and did a bit of embroidery whilst under the spell of sage perfume. The linen I used was originally a pillowcase that was given to me by my great-uncle. I believe it was brought out with him and his wife from Italy after WW2. The pillowcase was an old-fashioned size and had some raggedy edges, so I'm going to gradually give the linen a new life. It's nice to work with long-held family pieces like that.

There was a bit of mauve theme going on in my workroom this week: these drawstring pouches were made for my shop update today, and were all put together from recycled materials. I love that soft, unassuming shade of purple.

The flowers from herbs are beautiful, aren’t they. I have a weakness, too, for sage.
Must now go and water my new tomato plants.

First time that I see flowers of sage, embroidered ones of yours look even more beautiful. That reminds me that from my pumpkin soup yesterday, I forgot to add sage. Instead, I have it today in my morning tea.
    Happy Wednesday to Melissa.

Beautiful embroidery. I’ve often wondered – when you say linen fabric, is that what we here in the US call cotton fabric, or is it really Linen?
I have sage in my yard too, but it doesn’t have large blooms. Mine is Russian Sage, what is yours? I want blooms like that too!

Love the design of the little pouches – they would be handy for a lot of things. The oval patch of fabric really looks great. How nice to have a story around the fabric you are re-purposing!
