Our favourite place to be at the moment is our local beach, early evening, running in and out of the waves, digging the deepest hole possible, collecting a pile of driftwood and looking for interesting crab shells. At least, that's what the children did, while we lay on the sand, watching them. Finished by ordering fish and chips from across the road, eating them with a sprinkling of sand, and taking photos of the darkening sky.

Sounds heavenly! Fish and chips must be eaten by the sea to be properly enjoyed, don’t you think? That first photo is so breathtaking – may I print it to frame?

Heaven on earth, with french fries to boot. Definitely too cold for putting our toes in the water here!

Beautiful pictures although I had a quick chuckle when I saw the cloud centered over the little boat. Cherrie

Beautiful. I love the beach early evening (when everybody leaves) too. I’m expecting any day to see you and your kids in tank tops and flip flops, but I guess it’s still not that hot there.

hi M, we love similar outings and our kids had a dip in the sea yesterday. We also noticed the slightly strange looking clouds when we were out and about too. Very swirly and mixed up like paint in a giant water jar – now there’s a slightly Dr Seuss like thought. Beautiful photos.K

Their favorite place for now is our beach, early evening, in and out of the oven, dig a hole as deep as possible, collect a pile of sticks and shells in search of interesting crab.

reminded me of a line in my favorite book, Sarah, Plain and Tall: “What color is the sea when it storms?” he asked Sarah. “Blue,” said Sarah…And gray and green.”
Lovely pictures!LikeLike

New Zealand has the most amazing skies… and chips. I think I fancy a trip to the sounds now, and some fish and chips. Perhaps next year as my graduation present to myself… the trip I mean… but fish & chips will do for now 🙂

what a lovely way to spend the day. Brings back memories.. especially the fish and chips. In the eighties my family lived in Wellington and I still remember the smell of fish and chips wrapped in newspaper..my favorite was the potato fritters!
