We had a quiet kind of adventure, staying with friends in an old and rustic bach a few hours' away. It was so nice to escape town just before Christmas. There was a storm and it rained almost the entire time we were there. So that was a shame but it didn't really matter, because the children played in their raincoats anyway, digging holes and making dams and driftwood huts. And Jenny and I had the perfect excuse to do a bit of cross-stitch and look out of the window at the sea. That's a pretty good holiday in my book.

    in this period of the year I like reading your blog because it reminds me that in many parts of the world Christmas is not snowy an cold like in Italy.

    This place is so beautiful even the rain can’t spoil it. Your daughter looks like a fairy child in this photo.
    I have a pair of your baby shoes winging their way to me to give to my new niece, born last week in Ireland. I’m so excited to give them to her.

    I spent the first half of the post thinking ‘going away BEFORE Christmas? But there’s so much to do!’ and then I realized – thats why a holiday at this time would be so nice, as you said, to escape the craziness.
