Thank you for all those nice comments on yesterday's post. The Sufjan Stevens concert was amazing- truly the best concert I think I've ever attended. The music, video art and dancing was original and beautiful, and I looked around me several times during the show to see that more than one audience member had tears streaming down their cheeks- it was that kind of feeling in the theatre. It was great to hear the songs from this album in a new and fresh way- crazy electronica and big-band trombones, giant balloons, apocalyptic 'outsider'-art, recorders and even Steiner School eurythmy-inspired dancing girls. Truly one of a kind, I'd say.

One small project I finished before we went to Wellington yesterday was a cover for a very old feather cushion that resides on our computer chair (which is also old and rather Van-Gogh in style.) I used some of the fabric I designed to make it, and blue linen for the back- I made one for my etsy shop update today, too.

I've been enjoying using the Spoonflower fabric on some small projects and I wondered if others might, too. So as a tentative experiment, I've listed some fat quarters in my shop – both of the cushion fabric 'Heidi', and the blue version which I've named 'Clara'. They were inspired by my romantic ideas of alpine wildflowers and Swiss summertime. And of course one of my favourite childhood books, Heidi.

What a treat! My very own tiny happy fabric. I just bought a Heidi fat quarter. It just so happens that the Heidi books were my all-time favourites when I was a child. I kept borrowing them out of the library. Have you re-read them as an adult? I keep meaning to. I think my love of the outdoors is at least due to Heidi.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed the concert. Sounds like it was wonderful. There’s nothing like an uplifting live concert!

I too went straight to your shop but I knew the fabric would be gone. Totally gorgeous.
Are you going to do some more designs?
I had a look at Spoonflower a while ago and can’t wait to get one of my designs printed up. It’s a great idea isn’t it!
Looking forward to you listing some more Clara.

Well that would be a resounding yes then! 9 hours after you posted, I visited the shop and all the fat quarters are gone!! I would love to buy some, but then the postage might be a bit prohibitive for me. About time you brought out your own line, get on the phone to Moda!

Lovely cushion cover. I so need cushions (and covers) for my kitchen chairs. I’d love two cushions covered just like this, but round.

Was that not the most incredible show? Talk about a total feast for the senses. I really hope he comes to visit again one day. It was amazing to watch hundreds of us adults playing and singing and dancing as comfortably as we would have when we were children. A completely unique experience.

I went and saw Sufjan Stevens in October. Ir was so beautiful and I cried throughout the entire end of it. “Impossible Soul” just set me off.
I love that your fabrics have names. It’s nice to think of a “Clara” wearing a dress made of that fabric. Very lovely!

love the spoonflower fabric…I was also a Heidi fan- must have read the book about ten times. I like making home made cheese and think to this day was probably influenced by Heidi’s journey to rural high country!

The fabric arrived yesterday and it is so so beautiful!! It is even more wonderful in person!! I was pleasantly pleased how delicate the design is. It is as if you took the colors and drew the design right on the fabric. I just love it!
