It's raining and stormy, and here are some of the things keeping me busy today. A few new things for my shop (including some more 'heidi and clara' fabric pieces), and making biscuits. I always think about delivering baking to my neighbours, as a sort of unexpected (and maybe slightly awkward) afternoon tea surprise, and I think I really will do it this time.
oooh, lucky neighbours! I know what you mean about the awkwardness, but how could they not be thrilled with such a generous gesture?

Every holiday I try and make some baked goodies for my neighbors! Those cookies look delicious… I think they’d love them!

Your biscuits look yum! I clicked over to the recipe all inspired like then got stumped by the 3/4 c of melted butter, and the extra egg yolk. I think I’ll make brownies instead…..

hi jessicah, sorry about the fiddly-looking recipe… the butter turns out to be 170gms but i usually use about 150 and they turn out great- and the extra yolk is well worth it- promise. 🙂

thank you, jodi! yes- i do have a bit more (only 2 more FQs of the ‘clara’ print though) but i have ordered some more, so it shouldn’t be too long before i’ve got a better stash in my shop. 🙂

over christmas i delivered chocolate covered strawberries to our neighbours that we had just picked that afternoon. it was fun. you will enjoy the responses you get.

I live in an apartment with paper thin walls, and can sometimes hear my neighbors’ conversations, yet we’ve never really interacted. I think that’s sad, and strange. I’d love to have neighbors I could sit down to tea with, and pop by with cookies!

Do deliver them.On Monday ,following our terrifying earthquake a week ago,I delivered lemon muffins to my neighbourhood at lunchtime.I felt a bit awkward too (not knowing some of them very well) but they were gratefully received. We are fortunate to be in an area of Christchurch with minor damage but caring for each other is still hugely important …..

Hi Melissa – I’m a great fan of your happy blog, and I know you are well loved and followed in the blog world. Could you do me a favour? Could you publicise (for Wellingtonians) that the Ngaio School Fair, on Sunday 13 11-2 is donating 75% proceeds to Christchurch. It’s an amazing event, with activities, deli, craft, cakes etc etc. I’m busy making reusable sandwhich wraps, bottle top necklaces, recyled notepaper etc for the craft stall. Is there anyway to pass this round the blogists to catch Welly folks? Last year we raised $70K, so if we raise similar, that’ll be a good donation for Chch. Thanks, Mary
