Cosmos 1

Cosmos 2

Cosmos 3

I planted some white cosmos seeds at the start of summer, and they're just now starting to bloom. I love their generous petals like crinkled silk, and their feathery leaves. Their name means 'an orderly system' and I think they do have a harmonious and peaceful quality to them. I embroidered some onto a piece of natural linen and sewed it into a drawstring bag for my shop update today.

I hope your Wednesday is going well, dear readers.

We always had these in our garden when I was little. But ours were pink.
We transported them to a couple of houses. They’re pretty hardy. No nonsense.

Your ‘crinkled silk’ description is exactly what I thought when I saw them!
    Just lovely 🙂

I love white cosmos! Lovely shop update this week. Did I send you the little mushroom embroidery? It looks so familiar, maybe I have one the same too.

These used to be my grandmas favourite flowers. We have them in the garden every year, they are so pretty! I love your embroidery!

On the way back from the States last summer, I picked up ETC in Anthropologie and wavered back and forth on purchasing it or not. I didn’t but wish I had!!!!! The images are absolutely gorgeous! I love how you are continually inspired by your surroundings to create. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Tammy 🙂

I love cosmos. Mine let growing and growing last year but never bloomed. Next time I plant I will try a new spot. So pretty

I like cosmos too; they are so delicate-looking but stand up so strong in the wind. I especially like the petals when the sunlight shines through. I had a patch of cosmos that I’m hoping has self-seeded for this summer… fingers crossed!

Cosmos are so sweet. I like the mix of white, pale and darker pink. And I also love the feathery, fennel-like leaves. They fill out my flower borders so prettily. Your embroidery is, as always, charming.

Beautiful! I have what seems like millions of cosmos that come up in the summer. You have inspired me this morning – I think I will have to have a go at embroidery of some of my own.

I just followed the blog thread over from Margie’s blog, Resurrection Fern, and I am so glad I did. I love how the delicate embroidery is juxtaposed against the strong linen. Perfect. Carolina
