Friday 3

When the sun catches the yellow leaves of the birch trees outside our window, it looks like they're sparkling gold. Jewel-trees.

We're on holiday here, the children are running around outside and the day's baking (afghans with almonds) is cooling on the kitchen table. I'm enjoying this song- Heirloom, by Sufjan Stevens– it seems so perfectly suited to this golden autumn-time here. I even spent the morning pulling out wilted heirloom plants.

I wish you a happy Easter weekend, if you celebrate it. See you back here again next week.

I think I’m going to make some of these 🙂 and some Anzacs… is that the edmonds recipe? It looks familiar hehe
It’s a drizzly autumn day here in Auckland, so biscuits and tea sounds perfect.
    Hope you’re well! x

    Have a nice relaxing Easter!
I think it is lovely that Internet gives us the ability to watch seasons on the other side of the globe. Here we are, in spring, with flowers starting to bloom and you are turning towards autumn. I love seeing your flowers and plants, the way you tend to them, gather them and show them to us, and it is great that we get to live your season with you.

Oh, that just looks lovely. Like a place to sit and rest at the end of the day, and just take a deep breath. Autumn is so pretty like that. I love the flowers too.

    Happy easter week end melissa,
I went picking up wild flowers today,
I thought about you and your magic way to arrange them into pretty bottles. I found an old coffee pot and a simple glass of water, not so bad.

We are just planting the seeds that will result in lovely zinnias. Nice to see them displayed in such a pretty way.

Nice golden trees down our way too – poplars everywhere are turning into golden statues. Yum, afghans – must get on and get some baking in the tins for the holidays hordes at our place.
