Granity 2

Granity 1

Granity 3

The little West Coast town we stayed in last week was Granity. It's just tiny- about 200 people and consists mainly of a main road with old houses huddled alongside it on both sides, with wild sea behind one side, stretching out all the way to Tasmania or maybe beyond. I loved the greyness of the sea and sand and stones, and then the deep green of the vegetation leading right up to the shore.

Granity inspired a new watercolour painting in my sketchbook, in dark yellow, grey and blue. I had the painting printed into card sets for today's etsy shop update. I had in mind those wild grey waves and fair-isle cardigans. It would be a good place in live in fair-isle knits, I believe.

I was honoured to be asked by Stephanie to answer some questions on her blog today- you can see my interview here. And also, thank you to Annika who featured my work here, too.

Wishing you a happy and cosy day whatever you might be doing.

You are so right, this does look like the perfect place to wear lots and lots of fair isle knits (sounds like heaven to me!) Your sweet cards capture that perfectly.
And hey, I discovered that we have something in common: I also have a tough time with raw tomatoes (though I love them cooked).

Granity sounds like a perfect place to get swept up in nature. I love your watercolor.
I also enjoyed reading your interview. We took a walk on the beach, the first one after the long winter

That’s such a great way of capturing the beach; I have often fantasised about living in Granity and being a hermit after we drove through it one time.
    I enjoyed the interview too!

My mum lived at Granity for years and she owned the Fishermans Lodge Hotel before selling it and living in one of the houses that backs onto the beach. It is a wild and woolly place. Hope you had a lovely time.

I can’t wait to receive my etsy order package. The pouches really caught my eye. And thank you for the kind comment regarding my flamingo. That was a very long post for me to write, and I am grateful for the positive responses I have gotten. I like the patterning of these cards – little painted embroideries.
