Friday 3

Good afternoon. It turns out that I've been blogging for five years this week! I wanted to say thank you to you, sweet readers, for following along and being interested in my work. I've loved writing in this space each day over the past five years. It's been a lot of fun so far.

As a celebration, I wanted to offer up a little giveaway. I'll send you this embroidered drawstring case, useful for keeping your small projects in order or for keeping anything in, really. I'll also send a mixed set of printed cards and a piece of my 'heidi' fabric (and others, if they've arrived in time.)

Thanks again for your support and friendship here at tiny happy. It's much appreciated!

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post- you can write anything you like but it would be interesting to hear your film recommendations. (I'm hoping to get lots of film-watching in this winter, and maybe you are too?) Last year's blog birthday comment section produced some great music recommendations- you can check them out here if you like.

I'll post to anywhere in the world, and leave this open till Monday morning.

Enjoy your weekend.

Happy 5th! You’re blog is always so inspiring to me as a fellow embroiderer. I enjoy your beautiful handwork. A fairly recent movie we loved here is Bella. I hope you get to watch it and enjoy it as much as we did:)

I don’t get much film watching in these days. The last two movies I moderately enjoyed were Grey Gardens and The Queen.

Happy blogaversery! I truly enjoy your blog…it’s even bookmarked on my phone so I can read it when I’m not by my computer :-p
Movies…so many choices! I haven’t read through everyone’s comments so there might be some repeat suggestions. I second ‘Babies’…a sweet and very interesting movie. Kissed by Winter is a Norwegian movie that you might have heard of or seen since you lived there…I like that one a lot. Lorenzo’s Oil is older (1992), but a great movie. Newer movie I have to say Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio.

I’ve been quietly following and loving your blog for awhile now. YOu catch simplicity and make it beautiful. ! As for film, I watched Jane Eyre and want to see it again. It’s a lovely version, in my view. I also loved watching Bright Star – all that gorgeous handwork, besides the romantic/tragic story.

    Hi Melissa,
I can’t believe that I’ve been reading your blog for most of those five years – it always brings a bright moment to my day when you’ve written something new. I’m inspired by your projects, and I the knitting bag you made for me in Orkney colours with the cornflower embroidery is one of my precious objects, used on an almost daily basis. I hope that you keep making and writing in this corner of the ether for a long time to come.
They’re not really films, but I think you would really enjoy the Tales from the Green Valley and Victorian Farm series, where a group of historians and archaeologists recreate farms and daily life of the 16th and 19th centuries by living on the farms for a whole year. I find them absolutely fascinating.

Congrats on five years completed. I came across your blog a week or two ago through a link on another blog that I regularly follow. I’ve already become a devoted reader and have even added a few blogs that I’ve discovered through your links. Well done. I love your work.
Movies? All that’s really coming to mind at the moment is Amelie and Chocolat.

Hi Melissa! I’ve been rather quiet in blogland lately, but wanted to wish you a Very Happy Blogiversary.
A movie I watched recently and like a lot was Winter’s Bone. So good in a creepy/suspenseful/dramatic way.

Happy number FIVE! I love my Netflix and frankly, will watch almost anything so maybe I’m not the best person to give recommendations. Though last weekend’s pick, The Black Swan, nearly gave me feather-growing nightmares….

I can’t believe it’s been 5 years I’ve been reading here. Congratulations! And thank you!
This winter we’ve been rediscovering movies from the past with our son. Somehow watching with him something that I loved 20 years ago makes it even better, even more so if we’ve been able to read the book first. Go back, spend a month reading Little Women to your kids and then pick your favorite movie version and snuggle in…it’s everything I love about winter!

    Hi
I’ve just been reading your blog after seeing you in Your Home and Garden.
I love it. Not just the beautifully handcrafted work but the whole feel of it including the books – some of my favourites.
One of my favourite films is Whale Rider. When I lived in the UK if a needed a bit of a lift in the winter and a taste of home, I would watch this film.
