The sun came out over the weekend, which was surprisingly uplifting and even inspired a trip to the beach to soak in it. Even though it's been a strangely warm winter so far, it's been dark and rainy most of the time. We saw people having a midwinter swim yesterday. Brave things.

The children brought inside this miniature bouquet of daisies from the front lawn. I've been thinking about embroidered surface design lately, the idea that stitches could be used in the same way a stamp block or print might be. I cross-stitched a pattern onto a piece of old linen in blue, yellow and white. Inspired by the fistful of daisies and the sun that came out for a day. Happy new week!

    i’ve been stitching pouches too with old silk i dyed and embroidered. i’ve also been making simple brooches from a wonderful tutorial u had online and a couple of old jerseys. i’m challenging myself to see how many things i can make with these. so far two pincushions, several brooches, a case for my Android phone and a patch for a worn bag. i love what you’ve made. x

    That is so subtle and muted and it does look printed.
    I too loved your eraser stamps from last week. They themselves are covetable, aswell as the designs you make with them.

    Oh, that’s lovely. Funnily enough I’ve been working on the same idea – using stitch in the way I would block prints – but I’ve had to set the project aside until I can see an optician as I’m finally having to bow to the inevitable and accept that I need spectacles for close work 😦 So for now I shall have to get my fix of tiny things here 😀

    hello, I’ve been doing something similar with little vintage linen squares given to me by my mother-in-law; little abstract patches initially to cover some staining, now because I like the effect. I love your declicate stitching 🙂
