Rose 1

Rose 2

Rose 3

I've been having some adventures in recycling lately. This bag and purse started out their life as a cotton eiderdown for a single bed- the kind that are less popular these days, lightly quilted and padded with batting. When I found the eiderdown looking sad at the second-hand store, I thought I'd give it a good wash and see what I could make with it. The padded bag is soft and light-weight, and feels nice to carry. Something about it reminds me of my Mum when I was growing up- I think she had a similar bag to hold her knitting projects. It's part of my shop update today.

I do enjoy taking old, unloved things and making them into something new. But you probably already knew that.

I love the red flower and then the white flower/red background contrast. You could make padded laptop cases!

Gorgeous. It reminds me also of my mom’s dress when she went to work. I thought that she was the beautist in this world. Now I keep and wear most of her dresses. You gave a new life in a beautiful bag!

That material is like the curtains in little 1950s cottage bedrooms . Very Agatha Christie and very pretty !

Hey Melissa, sorry, been M.I.A recently with running Art Camp and all…you’ve been super busy making beautiful items…love the bag, it does look comfy…perhaps if it was stuffed with a sweater you could lay down under a tree and use it as a pillow?
    HUGS and a happy day!

Melissa I’ve been meaning to say how much i’ve enjoyed seeing you pop up in various magazines lately.
It feels a bit like being Alice down the rabbit hole turning the pages to find one of my friends in there!
It’s a funny concept really, having friends you’ve never met.
I especially loved the feature in Your Home and Garden.

I’ve got a scarf made out of the exact same fabric as the bag. My friend made it for me from vintage fabric she had.
