Magnolia 3

Magnolia 1

Magnolia 2

There seem to be magnolia trees flowering everywhere in our neighbourhood right now, and they look so beautiful I was getting jealous that we didn't have one in our backyard. There's not really room for any new big trees, but I managed to find this Little Gem magnolia plant, which I'm told will grow to about 5 metres and be covered in smaller creamy white blooms. I can't wait- please hurry and grow, little gem.

In the meantime I got some of my magnolia watercolour/drawings made up into postcard sets, so I can send them to friends and spread some magnolia love around.

Happy new week to you!

Magnolias are beautiful. We have a lovely one in our front yard which my grandmother planted in the 50s and it makes me so happy every year.

I love the magnolia leaves too. Great for floristry designs plus the floral perfume is so unusual.
    Have a lovely week, Melissa

Beautiful cards! My grandparents had magnolia bushes in their yard and as kids we would crush the large blooms and make “perfume.” Plus the bushes were grand for hiding under. Thank you for the magnolia post!

Nothing quite matches that beautiful, citrusy perfume. The smaller star magnolias are lovely too – raggedy, palest pink or white flowers with lots of scent. They’re making an appearance here in Rotorua now.

I am almost certain that Nelson is the Magnolia capital in Aotearoa no where else I have lived seems to have as many I definately notice everytime we move back.
Enjoy your new Little Gem we came very close to breaking our only natives rule for a magnolia tree.
