Sweet 1

Sweet 2

Sweet 3

It was Father's Day here last Sunday, and this is what I made for my Dad who (I think I've mentioned before) has a pretty sweet tooth. He liked these sweets that I made for him a while ago, so I thought I'd give him a new supply of fudge, but this time chocolate.

This is really and honestly the best recipe I know for chocolate fudge- no beating, no boiling- no fancy ingredients. I first saw it here a few Christmases ago and made some for a cake stall and small gifts. I don't have a microwave and never seem to have two blocks of chocolate in the cupboard (for obvious reasons) so this is how I make it.

Wishing you a sweet weekend!

:: Easy and delicious chocolate fudge ::

1 block (about 200-250 grams) dark chocolate

1/2 tin sweetened condensed milk

2 tsps vanilla extract + any additions you wish to make (nuts, ginger, fruit, etc.)

waxed baking paper and a smallish baking pan or tin (mine is about 7" square)

Break up the chocolate and place it, along with the condensed milk, in a double boiler (or a smaller saucepan set over a larger one filled with water) and melt over a medium heat. Stir to mix and ensure that the chocolate doesn't catch on the bottom of the pan. When the chocolate is completely melted, remove from heat, stir in vanilla and quickly transfer the mixture to the dish lined with baking paper. Chill for 1-2 hours then cut into small squares.

Thank you so much for this fudge recipe! I LOVE fudge, but have always avoided making it because I can’t handle all those things like candy thermometers.
I will definitely try this out!!

Hi and thank for this easy recipe. What quantity does your tin of condensed milk hold? How sweet is it? I am wondering about how much sugar to put in since the condensed milk you get here in Germany tends to bee unsweetened.

I have just translated your recipe, Melissa, to be sure not to do something in reverse.
I think I’ll start, Father’s Day in France arrives in 9 months, time to work out somehow !
Thank you for sharing and have a sweet weekend also to you and your family.

    hi doubletee,
my tin of condensed milk holds 400grams when it is full. it is very sweet- im not sure how much sugar youd have to add? if it helps, when i was living in europe, i sometimes found the sweetened variety in asian food stores.
    good luck! 🙂

I will have to try this. I made the Russian fudge a few weeks ago, and it was a big hit with friends and family, though I found it a tad too sweet for my taste. I think the bitterness of the chocolate would make this recipe right up my alley. Thanks for the continuing inspiration!

I was in a total sweet craving mode when I came by today, only to find this tempting fudge recipe. Usually I am a candy disaster but this seemed so easy that I decided to give it a try.
As of right now I have a batch cooling down to be refrigerated (and by the way, I scraped the mixing spoon for a quick preview and it tastes great!).
If I can do it, anyone can =)

thank you for yet another wonderful treat. i to made the Russia n fudge and it was a huge hit. i was wondering if i could use semi-sweet chocolate instead. not a fan of dark chocolate. would 105g of sweetened condense milk work. in Canada we can only get 300g cans. thanks. hope you have a great weekend.

hi andrea, yep im sure that would work fine… you might have a slightly firmer fudge if you use less condensed milk… otherwise you could use 2/3rds of a tin? good luck!

Auh~ That was sweet. I’ve never done that to my dad on Father’s Day. I think it’s because of our distance. It isn’t good to be far away from home… Guess I have to take a vacation and visit ‘em some time soon. I suddenly miss my parents. =(

Wow! That chocolate fudge looks so delicious. I bet I can eat that all in one sitting. That will get me running for hours! heheh. But don’t forget to brush after every meal, especially after eating desserts that have a lot sugar like chocolates.
