Poppies 1

Poppies 2

Poppies 3

It will be poppy season here soon- I found lots of baby plants springing up in the garden last week. I made a poppy stamp by carving it from an eraser, and used it to make these lavender sachets for a friends' birthday. The poppy stamp was used to print loose-weave linen (so lots of lavender scent can escape) and then I backed them with cotton lawn. Is there a better scent in the world? I think not.

Your stamp is amazing. It looks fantastic. Must try my hand at it. What sort of ink do you stamp with?

your poppy stamps are so lovely! I spent part of the weekend finishing the task of stripping my dried lavender stems – and now I have a nice big bag of lavender: I too love the scent!

Hello there! I’m doing some bloghopping and have just discovered yet another interesting blog! Your poppy-stamps are adorable.
Your second photo also captured my eye, especially the mint green fabric with the 60’s like flower pattern. Is it to much to ask for where you bought it? I’ve been looking for something like this for a very long time and this one is absolutely gorgeous 🙂
    Thank you for sharing!

    hi halina,
thank you! the green fabric was actually recycled from a skirt that used to belong to a friend of mine… the zip had broken and there were a couple of holes in it… so she gave it to me to re-use. 🙂

Have you tried cutting them down in the spring? Usually does the trick and makes them wild and bushy.

Gorgeous poppy stamps Melissa. You are so clever! I have some lavender I picked at the end of last summer, it’s all dried and ready to use. You’ve inspired me! Not sure I’m quite up to carving my own stamps but I’m sure I could whip up a few little lavender sachets using some of my old fabric scraps 🙂

hi stacey, i use lino cutting tools, but to cut rubber blocks and to get these, i just buy rubber erasers from the stationery store. hope that helps!
