Giveaway

Trees2

Cards 2

Hello! Hope you are well today. I thought I might have a little giveaway here because I haven't had one in a while, and it's fun. Also, I turn another year older tomorrow and I always like to give stuff away on my birthday. I have made up two packages to send (to anywhere in the world) and each has a digital print of a collage I made back in the wintertime, a couple of fat quarters from this fabric collection, and a set of watercolour postcards.

For past giveaways, I've suggested leaving a comment telling us about your latest favourite record or film, and I still go back to those posts to find new things to listen to and watch! So if you wouldn't mind doing the same this time, that would be fabulous. What are you enjoying listening to/watching/making?

Thanks for visiting my blog and being generally awesome, lovely readers.

Happy Birthday Melissa!! I’m currently listening to a mix of Kate Bush, Feist, and Wilco. The new Feist and Wilco albums are giving me a lot of joy, and ‘Aerial’ by Kate Bush is a perennial favourite. I’ve been watching old QI (Stephen Fry, BBC panel show) series, but have run out! So I now have to wait a week for a new episode like a normal person haha Mr. Fry has also started a gorgeous programme on Language – Planet Word. So far only 3 episodes, but really fascinating! I’m not really a film person, so much, but I did get introduced to ‘Keinohrhasen’ (No Ear Rabbit) – a German film – the other week. It’s a very sweet romance, but has sad parts. I don’t know if you’re much of a reader, but ‘When God Was a Rabbit’ really struck me to the core! Living in a German speaking country now, bookdepository.co.uk is my downfall haha
I’m slowly nesting here, and I went to a Flohmarkt this morning – so many gorgeous old pieces of fabric! I wish I could have bought so many, but I have to be realistic.. I did buy a beautiful handmade rug, and an old crochet doily. The next project is making curtains – the old blinds and windows don’t keep the cold out so well!
The sticks and stones fabric is gorgeous, every week when I take a peek in your shop, I see it and want it! So you can be assured that the fabric would be well used πŸ™‚
I appear to have written a bit of a novel.. but best wishes for your birthday! I hope springy Nelson puts on a show!

    Happy Birthday Melissa.
I guess with the leaves changing color and my excitement over the NY Sheep and Wool Festival this weekend I found myself knitting and sewing with recycled cashmere this week though some sewing and embroidery snuck it’s way in there too. I want to see the new Jane Eyre and I need new music suggestions badly so I will check back in here. I’m also quite loving peppermint tea lately.

    Wishing you a Happy Birthday.
I recently watched The Beaver. It’s a movie dealing with depression. Pretty Good.
Since a recent vacation to Jamaica I have been listening to Bob Marley. Can’t help, but be happy listening to him.
Also, I recently read All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. He writes about my area (south Texas). I never knew I could enjoy a western. Very good book.

    Hi Melissa,
Have you seen Juno yet? Its out on DVD – I thought it was wonderful and unexpected for an American film. Also you could try a series called Breaking Bad, which when you read the blurb sounds crazy but is a high paced sort of action series. Happy Birthday, hope you have a fabulous day!

Listening to Adele, the Wallflowers and the Barenaked Ladies (fun band from Canada). I’ve just finished a four week night course in basic patchwork – made four cushions for the kids bedrooms, and currently nearing the end of a knitted log cabin blanket. Would love to win your cool printed fabric.

I was exhausted one night and my partner put on the movie The Professional. I was convinced I would fall asleep but instead found myself wide awake and completely wired at the end of it. It is a really compelling film and I think it was Natalie Portman’s first film. And as far as music goes, it isn’t new, but I have been listening to The Field – From Here We Go Sublime every time I am writing an assignment. It totally mellows me out. x Bonnie (p.s. I am 4 weeks away from finishing my midwifery degree… can you believe how fast time passes?)

Happy birthday to you! Hope you have a wonderful day πŸ™‚
Our listening as of late is probably not for you, even though you might understand them…Norwegian kids audio books…Hakkebakkeskogen and Karius og Baktus mainly :-p.
Watching, maybe a little more interesting. Contagion, When the Sky Falls (based on a true story), Lumumba (very interesting), Secret Window (It’s Johnny Depp, what can I say!), and Thor (surprisingly good).
The making department. Hmm, I’m trying to get a head start on Christmas with some knit cotton dishcloths. Then there was a birthday before (coming Sunday actually), one knit wool/alpaca hat for my lovely husband (attempt number three, pattern number two worked out wonderfully!) and another birthday next week for a niece, crochet purple tote/basket (who ever thought of making scented yarn!! Yuck! Too bad it was the perfect color…at least it was lavender scented, which is not too bad).

A very Happy Birthday to you! I’m glad to join on discussions like this as I too get lots of ideas for new things to see and listen to, so thanks for starting another.
He’s been talked about more than usually lately with the new movie out, but there’s nothing better than a well-made documentary and Werner Herzog is one of the best. THe movie that came out recently about ancient art in a French cave, “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” is so neat to watch, but the other older ones are interesting too.
I also just saw a French-made movie with an English title “Flirting with Heights” (www.vertigedunerencontre.com) which was stunning and had some very powerful photography. THe director basically sits in the Alps and looks at Golden Eagles and other creatures but with a wonderfully poetic French attitude toward the whole thing.
Whatever you end up watching, a happy day to you πŸ™‚

The last movie to really stick with me was “The September Issue” which I saw this summer on DVD. Wasn’t prepared to like it, but it’s a quietly beautiful film and story about women and fashion (together and separately). Happy, happy birthday to you Melissa – Cheers from up North!
