Giveaway

Trees2

Cards 2

Hello! Hope you are well today. I thought I might have a little giveaway here because I haven't had one in a while, and it's fun. Also, I turn another year older tomorrow and I always like to give stuff away on my birthday. I have made up two packages to send (to anywhere in the world) and each has a digital print of a collage I made back in the wintertime, a couple of fat quarters from this fabric collection, and a set of watercolour postcards.

For past giveaways, I've suggested leaving a comment telling us about your latest favourite record or film, and I still go back to those posts to find new things to listen to and watch! So if you wouldn't mind doing the same this time, that would be fabulous. What are you enjoying listening to/watching/making?

Thanks for visiting my blog and being generally awesome, lovely readers.

Happy birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day. As for films, I am in the process of taking my tween-aged daughter through Jane Austen films. She loved Emma (the Gwyneth Paltrow/Jeremy Northam version) and Sense & Sensibility (the Emma Thompson/Kate Winslet version). Nothing beats an afternoon of Jane Austen 🙂

Hi, I’ve just found this blog and it’s great – and I hope you had a happy birthday.
A favorite classic film that I’ve watched recently is one that has at least 2 brilliant scenes from Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy – Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.

Thank you for having this giveaway. I like the movie breathless with Jean-Paul Belmondo.
I am currently reading a classic which I like a lot the Thorn birds. I am currently knitting a shawl for my nanny that I have known for all my life. I love your blog and your creations are beautiful.

My first impulse is always to say “Casablanca” because it sounds good (plus, that’s an excellent film) but of course everyone’s already seen that, and also, my actual favorite film of all time is Bull Durham, which I adore, for no good reason at all. Check it out. And then listen to Edith Piaf! 🙂

Thank YOU for sharing so much “pretty-ness”! These are beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I might have to leave a comment without much to add. I’m not a movie person but one that I watched a long time ago, that I loved then is “Whale Rider”. This makes me think of it and I think I might need to watch again some time soon.
    Happy Birthday!

I am in love with Mumford and sons album. It takes a few repeats for some of the songs to get into them but they truly are amazing.

    Hi melissa
Happy beeday just been! I have to recommend ‘The Long Song’ & ‘Small Islands’ by Andrea Levy. I enjoyed them both very much. We went to Golden Bay in the weekend & I read ‘Say Her Name’ by Francisco Goldman, it was so sad & so moving:

What I do is look at the Orange Prize website & just make my way through the long lists. I have read so many great books like this – The Road Home by Ruth Tremain, The Outcast by Sadie Jones, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Have you read any Alice Munroe books? I loved ‘Too Much Happiness’.
& movies…I have 2 recommendations here http://www.aliceinvideoland.co.nz (I used to work here & they courier all over NZ!!) The biggest vid collection in NZ, with a huge collection including cult, foreign, incredibly strange, documentary etc etc. Also the http://www.empireonline.com website is great for reading reviews & making lists. We have recently watched the TV series ‘The Human Planet’ (great family viewing, have you guys been watching it?) Downton Abbey(of course – hurray it’s back!)Treme(set in New Orlenes after Hurricane Katrina) which inspired me to read more about this disaster for eg ‘Zeitoun’ by Dave Eggers: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/11/dave-eggers-zeitoun-hurricane-katrina
We also watched ‘Generation Kill’ a Tv series of 7 episodes, which was hard viewing as it sounds but I definitely recommend it.
