Today, a mixture of linen and silk, wool and leather. Picutred above are a few things I made for this week's shop update including some tote bags made from recycled textiles- old kimonos (I love their understated geometrics) paired up with herringbone wool fabric, and recycled leather handles which i bought from a bag maker going out of business.

In other news-

I deeply admire these new surface (mainly textile, I think) designs by Sanderson that I found via Pinterest. The colours, the simple lines, the botanical stylings, all of it.

Also admirable, are these beautiful ceramic pieces handmade by Swedish artist Maria Kristofersson.

I love your aesthetic, Melissa. Always simple, clean, gentle on the planet and lovely to look at. I am still loving your brooch I found on Etsy. I appreciate your sweet spot here on the internet.

I’m new to your blog and wanted to thank you for supplying me with the easy shoulder bag pattern I found on-line under Purse Patterns.com. I would love to send you a photo of my finished product because I took it a step further than your basic pattern. I had upholstery samples from a friend and so I laid an irregular template in the middle of the bag and then sewed strips to each side continuing around on a muslin base until I had filled the whole pattern. After starting I realized that the seamed edges would be the front of the bag and my pattern would end up on the sides. What to do with the seamed front pattern as it did not match up evenly. Well, I made a front pocket on one side and a back pocket on the other. I put pockets inside (3 on one side and 2 on the other) in one long piece. I had some trouble with the final lining joining of the handles but I have since figured what I can do with that in the future. If you wold like to see the finished product you can go to my blog: http://featherridge.blogspot.com/ and see it. Otherwise, you could write me an e-mail and I could send you the photos. I’m now going on to do a small clutch to carry at my Grandson’s wedding in June. Thanks again for your pictorial instructions on the pattern. The only thing that could be improved upon would be the joining of the handle and the fact that one should have the lining a little bit longer than the outside.

This is a great post. I am really bad at remembering to pin articles I liked or were helpful
but I do have a board started.
