I found the book Russian Textiles: Printed Cloth for the Bazaars of Central Asia at the library, and even though it's due back, I don't want to return it! I think I'll need to order my own copy. It's beautiful, and features lots of rich prints in vivid colours, as you can see in these page snapshots above.

The book is also a very interesting read- and includes some of the photos and stories that I linked to here. What an amazing history that part of the world has.

    Hi Melissa
I’ve had that book out before. I love it too.
You might like this book that I’m reading at the moment. It’s called In her hands by Paola Gianturco. I found it as the foreword is by Alice Walker and am a bit obsessed with her at the moment. It’s about women making a living in developing countries thorugh their crafts. It shows some beautiful crafts and inspirational stories.

It looks like a wonderful book, and makes me realise how little I know about art and craft from that part of the world!

Beautiful! I cannot believe how easy that was! I changed the title to “Directory of Post Labels” because my blog is mainly about directories of special needs resources and I was so thrilled to see it work the first time! Thank you!
