Thank you again for all your support on my last couple of posts. I'm lucky to have you cheering me on!

The first week of my new course has been great. I've learned some newsroom writing protocol, and reckon I might be ready to write a real story in reporter-style, pretty soon. It's great to learn such new skills, but I must admit that the full-time student life is something that might take a while to get used to, after working from home and looking after children. For example, I've not yet been interrupted from my work or had anyone pulling on my clothes, nor have I done any washing at all in five days. It's just different, I suppose, and I'm sure I'll get used it soon enough.

I've posted three photos of some good things from the week. I finished a few new needlebooks for my shop, they are made from natural linen and feature botanical embroideries on the front.

A very kind friend sent me a set of milky-blue vintage cups and saucers. They have such a Scandinavian aura around them, I think, but they were actually made in Ireland. I'm looking forward to putting them to use this weekend.

And the last photo above shows some pieces of coconut rough. This was a childhood favourite of mine (both to make and eat) and I was reminded it of it recently by a friend, then came across this recipe, which is very sweet but pretty close to how I remember it from those days. I made this for the kids (and who am I kidding, myself too) to celebrate the end of this different kind of week.

Have a great weekend!

Coconut rough and mint patties were part of many of my childhood memories too. Your work is beautiful (as it always is) and the tea set just lovely. That perfect shade between blue and grey. Wishing you all the best in your new creative endeavour and hope to see you in here every now and then. You have been an almost daily read for me the past few years. Thank you for being a daily dose of inspiration.

Oh wow – those cups are gorgeous! I’m so glad your course is going well. I know what you mean about ‘different’ – I’m still getting used to having a job I go out to, and I’ve been doing my ‘new’ job since September last year! I definitely find it more tiring for some reason….but lively, too. Have a lovely weekend, my friend. Helen x

So glad you are able to follow your dream. I have read your blog every day. Your writing style is so concise and optimistic. You have a gift- you see the world through eyes that recognize the beauty in the every day little things. This blog has been a wonderful way to share that gift with the world.

Oh such pretty little needle books. And those little crochet stones that pop up. So lovely and rest sop happily next to those lovely tea cups. Coconut rough, what a great idea. My wee man loves a little coconut and a lot of chocolate. I’ve been having an affair with the slices of my youth. Lots of revisiting going on here. At this point too much chocolate mint slice…can there ever be too much?

Congratulations on your new adventure! I hope it inspires you and sets you on a wonderful path! Funny enough, I worked at a local paper before I left to take care of my daughter and paint. There were only 5 of us, so I was reporter/photography/editor/receptionist 😉 I am thrilled for you to start a new adventure!
These cups and saucers are also stunning. I love the color! And I might have to try that recipe!~

Oh how I love those cups and coconut rough! My nana used to make it all the time. I’ve got a large jug with the same pattern as your cups, but in green. It’s made in Ireland too.
Glad to hear you’ve had a good week! Here’s to many more xxxxx

Congratulations on starting a new training, there are lots of great positive quotes about change out in the world. Those blue cups are so pretty, you need some scandinavian, or irish cake to have with them.

Some friends took me to the cafe at RED Gallery for my birthday and on the table, holding the sugar sachets, was a cup just like your set. Aren’t they simply beautiful. It was nice to think of you!
