My friend Jenny sent me a set of vintage postcards that included these: Peasants of Corfu (above) and The Market of Corfu (below).

I love the colours and the warmth. A small glimpse of another time and place.

    Oh, these pictures remind me of Gerald Durrell’s lovely and hilarious books about his family’s time on Corfu. Have you read them? I think I’d better request them at the library again so I can dream of cicadas as Canada slowly slips into autumn.

    hi pneu, no i havent read those books but i did hear them being read on the radio. they were wonderful. i must get them for the kids to read. thank you for the reminder, and stay warm this autumn.

    Corfu for us in Greece is Kerkira. Its a very beautiful island.

    My husband and I love Greece… especially Corfu, having visited quite a few times now.. those cards reminded us so well how beautiful and friendly it is. Gerald Durrells books are well worth reading too.. Amazon or your library should stock them. Love Sue UK
