Cushion cover

It's not quite cold enough for frost here yet, but this evening's sunset made me think of this great old Flying Nun song and atmospheric video: Pink Frost.

I've been trying to use up some of my long-hoarded and most precious bits of fabric. I made a few new things for my etsy shop, including this cushion cover from the last piece of vintage barkcloth from this project. There are more additions to come, if I can keep up the momentum: at least, my worktable is crammed with half-made things.

And also, thinking about frost, have you seen this exquisite pattern: Imogen Tee, with a 'frost flowers' lace panel down the front? I would love to make it one day soon. I fear my knitting ambition will get the better of me…

    You’d be fine making that. All you need to do is follow the instructions, if you can knit and purl you can do lace. Also putting in a life-line in case you do need to pull back helps.

    thank you ruth, do you know id never heard of a lifeline in lace knitting (looked it up) – so logical and helpful!

    Hi,
    The lace pattern is my favourite. 🙂 Please do try it, it’s a very simple pattern, promise. I’m currently knitting it and I know it off by heart. It’s quite logical, once you know the pattern and it’s only 4 rows that you repeat 3 times, before you change it up.

    I can barely count (I kid you not, it is one of the things I find hardest to do as I forget what I was doing even with v low numbers)and am pretty mathematically challenged generally. However, I can and do knit lace. Apparently quite complex stuff as I don’t think about that; if I like it, then I do it. I do make errors but to me that is part of my knitting. I don’t like leaving errors though, so a great part of my knitting is actually unknitting or tinking (knitting spelt backwards). My skills at sorting out errors are probably more advanced than my knitting ones but it’s all good and I expect to regularly be thwarted in my progress. It honestly doesn’t bother me much and I have completed really nice lace projects. I don’t use life lines as I find them a bother, I just have made peace with undoing every stitch and going backwards when needed. I enjoy the process of knitting and the direction I am currently going in doesn’t unduly worry me, as I know I will always advance enough to get to the end.
