Sunflower

Baby set

Pouches

Here are three things I made with my hands recently:

a) a botanical sampler designed and embroidered for a customer on the other side of the world, featuring various favourite plants.

b) set of three new baby knits: a bonnet (from this pattern), booties (discussed here) and a little animal friend (from this pattern.) All knit in fine alpaca yarn.

c) some drawstring and zipped bags for my Mum, sewn from remnants from her handwoven projects. These were a bit tricky to make as the yarn was prone to unravel, but I've seen them in use already, so hopefully they'll last for a while.

An old favourite song for your Wednesday evening: Pulaski at Night, Andrew Bird.

I hope you're having a good week. What are you working on right now?

I love those little bags for your Mum!
I’m knitting a pair of toddler overalls in chocolate brown – sooo looking forward to Autumn, just around the corner. It’s been so terribly hot these last weeks.

I adore your sampler, just gorgeous. I have been crocheting a granny square blanket and enjoying it so much, just simple and fun x

I always like seeing your embroidery. It is so dainty. In an effort not to end up with a yarn-bombed house, I am trying out needle-felting instead of my endless knitting and crochet. Very slow process but very hyggelig. (it’s wintertime here).

Hi Melissa, wow your hands have been busy! Love all of it.
I’m making wrist warmers from pure shetland wool with warm earthy colors.
Still cold here in the Netherlands, but harvesting good memories from our time in NZ.

Your work is just so beautiful, Melissa. I love all your tiny stitches. I have one of your adorable little animal friends ready to piece together and a washcloth I’m knitting in a lovely soft organic cotton that I have to keep unravelling (I keep dropping stitches!) so I could be working on that for a while! Meg:)

Love the Sunflower? on your sampler. Keep up the beautiful work Melissa. I’m sending some of our Newcastle heat over to Wellington now!

The bonnet is so cute! And the embroidery makes me want to go grab some thread and start a project immediately. Love it all!
I’m working on a pretty, bright yellow knit blanket. It’s so cheerful, and has chased away the winter blahs successfully.

I realized the other day that I really havent sewn much since the Christmas orders and family sewing frenzy.
I really need to get back to it for the creative release…feeling grumbly lately!
Listening to your song suggested right now and love it! 🙂
    What I need to sew:
a personal sized quilt for my nephews wedding present. I want to do two feathers down the middle of different fabrics.
a star wars quilt i promised my daughter and have cut out for awhile lol!
a couple tunic dresses for my grandgirl ❤
a set of grey curtains for Hannah and one for Sophie
